I hope y'all had a great time celebrating America's 244th birthday! We had a magnificent time and were so lucky to be on a private home's penthouse balcony to watch the fireworks go off in Washington, D.C. The neighbors in southeast D.C. began around 8:30 pm, before the official fireworks started at 9:04 pm, and then kept going for another 2 1/2 hours!! So amazing!! I loved seeing so many fireworks go off all along the horizon in Northern Virginia, Maryland and of course at The Washington Monument where the official ceremony was hosted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
We are all so proud to be Americans and, despite our country's many flaws, we were immensely grateful for the limitless opportunities we have been given in this country. We celebrated her birthday with this gorgeous cake made at home by our good friend Liberty Vittert who, is not a professional baker but a Harvard professor in statistics! What a tremendous job she did!

Here's to a wonderous next year -- and I pray for us all to remember what a privilege it is to be living in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave!
