Happy President's Day Weekend! I am unexpectedly trapped in Washington, D.C. due to Montage Palmetto Bluffs literally cancelling my flight and hotel reservation 12 hours from me checking into my flight -- SO AWFUL!! And YES, I will 100% be pursuing a remedy since they violated the terms of the Agreement -- so I decided to make the most of it by visiting some of my favorite old haunts in Washington, D.C.
Now that I live in Dallas, Texas, it's been a challenge to find my favorite anything since I haven't even been there long enough to either like or dislike anything! I do spend an awful lot of time in Legacy Plano West but they don't do donuts and I do enjoy a donut every-so-often.
As we ran around Washington, D.C. yesterday, we headed to Ballston Quarter which never ceases to amaze me with their growth. For those who aren't in the know, the Ballston Quarter area used to be a dying section of the DMV but they, much like Union Market, have exploded with new office buildings, apartment buildings and of course a complete gut-renovation of the hideous mall. Now teeming with options (and plenty of natural sunlight) Ballston Quarter is a great place to hang out ... and also get some donuts.
District Doughnuts, in my opinion, has the best donuts in the DMV because they are hearty yet sweet, with just the right amount of fluff, but they still don't top The Original Goodie Shop in Columbus, Ohio which has the best donuts I've ever had in my entire life! I always love putting in an order when I go to Columbus -- but I know not everyone can and The Goodie Shop does not ship nationwide.
If you ever need a donut desire fulfilled in D.C. be sure to go to District Doughnuts. Multiple locations as well.
