Long considered one of the best brands in hotels for their upper-class, luxurious accommodations, Le Meridien  has been one of the brands pointed to by locales in Columbus as a turning point in how rapidly change has come to this formerly, relatively low-key town.  Columbus, of today, has nothing low-key about it other than the confluence of friendly people.  The enormous economic growth, creating extreme low unemployment, has meant a phlethora of opportunities for businesses to thrive such as Fox In The Snow (one of the best coffee shops in the U.S. according to Food and Wine Magazine), Service Bar (one of the best restaurants in the country according to Food and Wine Magazine), as well as a slew of entrepreneurial businesses like Root Insurance.

In the heart of this growth, on the very trendy Short North in Downtown Columbus, is Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph.

Born in 1960s Paris during an era of glamorous travel, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts celebrates cultures around the world through the distinctly European spirit of savoring the good life.  And, with more than 100 hotels and resorts in nearly 40 countries and territories, spanning from Mauritius to Monaco and from Santa Monica to Seoul, Le Méridien’s engaging mid-century designed spaces -- coupled with chic signature programs -- puts a playful twist on art, coffee, sparkling cocktails, vacation and inspired/creative-minded travelers to explore the world in style.

The Columbus, Ohio location certainly lives up to this reputation.  The design and decor is stylishly sophisticated without compromising on comfort.  Since I have just moved into a new home, I took even more careful notes on the design and decor since the crisp contemporary style is my personal preference, particularly when everything looks so cozy and comfortable (could I put any more words which start with "c" in this sentence?!?).  The Presidential Suite runs for $6,000 a night so it is comparable to other Presidential Suites and, for the price and location, I think a great deal.  A regularly room can be had for around $250 and the hotel does do complimentary upgrades.

In, particular I noted the stunning Ohio Amish beds which are in each and every guestroom.  "How did y'all get these beds from Amish country inside these hotels if the Amish don't allow for cars?!?," I queried on my property tour.  "That's a really good question.  I have no idea.," my friendly tour guide explained.  haha!  Funny!

Not only are the beds beautiful to look at, they are extremely comfortable as well.  Pillows too.

As I mentioned about complimentary upgrades, because there was a large group in the hotel that evening (more below), we lucked out in having our rooms upgraded to a corner, Junior Suite, on the top floor.  The views are of the entire Columbus skyline and could not have been any more beautiful.  Also, I thought the rubber ducky holding the bar of soap was a great souvenir touch to the room.  It, honestly, are these kind of simple touches which make hotels stand out.

Additionally, it's in these small branded details where you can ascertain that the hotel will take great care of you generally.  I know Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph certainly did. We had a lovely welcome cocktail ready for us, flawless sign-in, great concierge service, and everyone who worked in the hotel couldn't have been more friendly.  Plus, I know in great detail how nice they are, as well as discreet, because the Pittsburgh Penguins professional NHL hockey team were staying at the hotel as the same time as us (If you don't want us to know then don't have a pack of people wearing your branded gear around the hotel!!  Just kidding!  We worked out in the gym with them and they were talking about Pittsburgh Penguins stuff.)

Speaking of working out, Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph has a strong commitment to fitness.  In addition to a very nice gym, with a particularly bright and delightful layout, they also do branded partnerships with CorePower Yoga across the street as well as providing information for runners.  So great!

Fitness is definitely important since the hotel also has as its anchor restaurant and in-house food service the delightful Cameron Mitchell restaurant The Guild House.  See here for my full review of The Guild House here.

Overall, what a wonderful stay!  I can't wait to come back!  Thank you Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph for making my holidays so merry and bright.
