This week I had a chance to try out some of the fresh new cocktails, and food items, at Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak Lounge. Located inside the Four Seasons Georgetown, Bourbon Steak Lounge has consistently been a place for those who like excellent service and fantastic cocktails to pass many leisurely hours. With the tremendous pace of new restaurants opening up in Washington, D.C. I haven't had a chance to really dive into the scene at one of my favorite places in D.C., but when I heard there were some new items on the menu I couldn't wait to go!
You can't really go wrong with any of the standard cocktails at Bourbon Steak Lounge. My go-to cocktail is off-menu and called 'Mrs. Jefferson," but the head bartender Sara created some exquisite, new craft cocktails which will be coming online June 25. One of them is this incredibly refreshing drink featured above. I can't tell you what it is but go show Sara the photo of this cocktail on June 25th for this and you will not be disappointed!!
Other standard cocktails you should definitely order is the "Mauna Loa Breeze." This very rich cocktail is nicely curated with Macadamia nut-infused Bulleit Bourbon, Orange Curacao Orange and Tiki Bitters. You can find the full menu here.
And no one really comes to Bourbon Steak Lounge without leaving with some french fries -- I know I don't -- but we decided to go over to the main restaurant and ordered a slew of appetizers.
From our appetizer course, I really enjoyed the basic Caesar Salad presentation as well as the Caviar Parfait because, let's face it, I really love caviar! Made with a base comprised of potato cake at the bottom, then succeeding layers of smoked salmon, creme fraiche and a egg mimosa before finishing off with the caviar, this appetizer is decadent beyond belief. Because it was so rich, I truly filled up just having this beautifully small dish.
I know it's a really sad thing to say I filled up on just appetizers because I ordered the Lobster Pot Pie for my entree and only could only manage one bite before I had to take the rest home. You know a dish was powerfully tasty when you microwave it the next day and it takes just as good!
