Kicking off my first official media trip of Q2 2019, I am here in stunning Sonoma County, California at the newly refurbished Vintners Inn. Located in Santa Rosa -- a 2 mile, 10 minute drive from the Santa Rosa Airport -- Vintners Inn underwent a a $17 million renovation in 2018, which included the opening of a new wing of vineyard view rooms and a sprawling 5,000 square foot spa.

It's been a long time -- almost 3 years I believe -- since I was last in Sonoma County and I forgot how stunning the weather and scenery is. I landed to 75 degrees with not a cloud in the sky which made me feel great when I saw on the news all my friends back home in Washington, D.C. had flash flooding and monsoon-like rains during their evening commute home. "Sorry not sorry!," I laughed to myself.
After checking in, I immediately unloaded my bags in my room before heading straight to lunch at the River Vine Cafe here at Vintners, as well as the one mile walk around the vineyard grounds. It's very bucolic here ... well except for the rattlesnake I saw on the path! (GULP!) That scared the crap out of me and I literally ran all the way back to the main inn grounds.
When I informed the front desk this morning I had seen a snake, the very kind lady gently informed me, "Oh yes. There are rattlesnakes all over Sonoma because they come down from the mountains after winter looking for water." Uh ... no more outdoor walks for me, but it's okay because the brand new spa building has a great gym.

And I will need the gym because, even though this is a "wellness" trip, I am eating a ton of carbs. I had french fries with lunch yesterday -- I skipped dinner because I wasn't hungry -- and then this morning I ordered the Beignet (eating just one) before chowing down on the Huevos Rancheros. Very delicious main course at breakfast, particularly when you add the chorizo.
