Cheers to the first day of Spring!

This morning I woke up to the most brilliant sunrise.  The sky looked as if a child took a huge red paintbrush and stroked it across the sky, exquisite!  I couldn't help standing and admiring the scene before I went to get a cup of coffee.  Ah coffee.  The thing I will miss most about living in F1rst Residences is the phenomenal coffee machine!

 

Once caffeinated I realized today was also the first day of Spring, which is odd to me considering everyone in D.C. is bundled up in their winter gear.  Since I am moving today, and moving around A TON, I have been running around the city in shorts -- I am getting the funniest stares!  But since I am always looking for a good reason to cheers to the season, here are some great drink ideas from my favorite gin:  Hendrick's!

Holiday Hendrick's & Tonic:  As prepared by Erik Andersson, Hendrick’s Gin Ambassador

  •   1 part Hendrick’s Gin

  •   3 parts tonic water

Combine all ingredients in highball glass. Garnish with cranberry and cucumber.

Supersonic Gin & Tonic:  As prepared by Mattias Horseman, Hendrick’s Gin Ambassador

  •   2 parts Hendrick’s Gin

  •   2 parts tonic water

  •   1 part fresh espresso

  •   1 barspoon simple syrup

Combine gin, tonic and simple syrup in a Collins glass. Wait for espresso to chill, or float espresso on top of the cocktail. Garnish with cucumber.

  •   Cucumber, Mint

  •   Cucumber, Mint, Rose

  •   Cucumber, Mint, Lavender

  •   Lavender, Sage, Lemon

  •   Cucumber, Dill, Lemon Oil and/or Lemon Thyme,

  •   Grapefruit, Mint, Lemon Oil

  •   Pineapple, Rose Tea, Maple, Soda
