Sometimes, instead of a far-flung trip, it's nice to just do a more local trip. In this case, I am so pleased to be able to drive an hour away from Washington, D.C. to "horse country," aka Middleburg, next week to visit the Goodstone Inn. Located in the rolling hills of Virginia, the Goodstone Inn spans 265 acres and is nearby several wineries. But there really isn't a need to leave this bucolic property as this 18 room hotel has wonderful food, a spa and even llamas!

Most people who live close to D.C. will actually recognize the property's distinct features as it is a highly sought after wedding venue. Since I'm not getting married anytime soon, I wasn't able to identify it easily (ha) but I look forward to checking it out anyway. It won't be the romantic weekend I thought it would be, but I am sure it will be a great time anyway!
