Over the years Vail has become my go-to destination for incredible skiing, and this year did not disappoint! I had two absolutely "bluebird" (aka perfect) days of skiing, and I honestly have no idea how I only gained a pound considering how crushingly full I was from the incredible food from Mountain Standard, Sweet Basil, the glorious talent at Four Seasons Vail's Flame Restaurant (the hot chocolate truly is the most exceptional thing you will drink in the entire state of Colorado) and my favorite comfort food destination Saddleridge in Beaver Creek.

Every day I was in Vail/Beaver Creek, I literally, no joke, had to plant my left and right palm on either side of whatever chair I was sitting in (at lunch and dinner) to gradually puuuuuuush myself up like a 100-year-old woman getting up from the bathtub. Godness gracious, my stomach was seriously stuffed with foie gras, beautiful lobster, the most amazing four-course meal at Flame, as well as enough Chicken Fried Steak at Saddleridge to make a linebacker blush! Add to this cocktails, desserts and every other snack imaginable, and it's fortunate I skied so much each day to burn the calories!!

I can't wait to give you all a full rundown of my trip, but in the interim if you are still thinking of booking a place to ski for the 2018-2019 ski season Vail is a speedy four hour flight (direct from D.C. to Denver, and then a 90-120 minute car drive) and Beaver Creek is a mere 8 minute drive. You can purchase daily lift tickets for Vail here and the early purchase price is a mere $149 but you get a substantial discount for buying multi-day passes (3 days, 5 days, etc.). For Beaver Creek, you can purchase daily lift tickets here -- and note Beaver Creek is considered a much more family-friendly destination than Vail, which I completely agree with.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this trip special, especially to the most amazing Vail/Beaver Creek guide Tiffany Neal for helping this skier continue to improve her skill and form -- double diamond blacks, here I come!!! You can book her for yourself at Beaver Creek Ski School.
