Lucky me, I got the chance-of-a-lifetime to fly Singapore Airlines new Suite Class from Singapore to Sydney (full review to come). Just like with the First Class service, Suite Class -- which is ultimately a step above First Class -- enables you to a private room reserved only for First Class and above. Additionally, in Singapore, prior to boarding there is a separate check-in area five steps from the car service drop-off. Yes. I counted.
Making the Singapore Airlines check-in service even more convenient is the fact the airline has a dedicated immigration agent just to check the passport and airline ticket of anyone who flies Singapore Airlines First Class and above. I don't know about you but, for me, nothing says LUXURY more than being able to cut through every conceivable version of a line to get right into the very comfortable seats of the First Class Lounge.
In order to get to the lounge, you do enter the regular Business Class Lounge. Unlike the hustle-and-bustle of the extremely crowded Business Class Lounge, the First Class Lounge is an oasis of tranquility and you are immediately struck by the sound of silence.
Before settling into the seating area, there are full service showers (naturally) and plenty of magazines, but I would just head straight to the chairs where you have at least four different people coming to serve you whatever you want to eat and drink from the food and drink menu. After bingeing through all the food at the Shangri-La Singapore, I wasn't so hungry so I just had champagne, cheese and truffles.
I am truly the world's healthiest person, ha!
For those who want to sit and have a full meal, there is an entire white-linen covered dining area dedicated to dining. There are also enormous televisions and high speed wi-fi. Very lovely.
