Ted Seghesio, fourth generation winemaker and general manager at Seghesio Family Vineyards, has introduced the first vintage of the highly-anticipated Montafi Zinfandel, a limited production wine made from 100-year-old vines from Montafi Vineyard in the high plains of Russian River Valley.
Seghesio Family Vineyards, known for producing critically-acclaimed Zinfandel that honors the history of Sonoma and the Seghesio family heritage, purchased the 24-acre Montafi Vineyard in 2014. The production of this inaugural Montafi Zinfandel reinforces Seghesio’s commitment to farming and producing benchmark Zinfandels from old vines in Sonoma County.
Seghesio’s history in Sonoma dates back to 1895, when Italian immigrant Edoardo Seghesio planted his first vineyard, which became what is now known as Home Ranch, located in northern Alexander Valley.
