In 1927, hotel lovers welcomed Louis Sherry's vision of building New York's tallest building. Dubbed The Sherry-Netherland, with its total of 164 residential units (50 of which are dedicated hotel rooms and suites) with each individually decorated and maintain original architectural details including decorative fireplaces, crown moldings and high ceilings, and many offer views of Central Park. In fact, some of the stunning marble bathrooms still feature the original pedestal sinks with nickel plated faucets from the 1920s, but perhaps one of the most famous features within this iconic hotel is the mural on the ceiling of the intimate, which was inspired by Raphael's frescoes in Cardinal Bibbiena's Loggetta in the Vatican Palace and in 2014 was refurbished to reflect its original splendor.
