Located in the heart of St. Vincent and the Grenadines within the southeastern Caribbean, Canouan (meaning ‘the island of tortoises’), is already renowned for its lush green hills, secluded white sand beaches and one of the world’s largest living coral reefs. This fall, the stunning three square mile island—a playground for billionaires—will soon become home to a collection of three properties known as The Pink Sands Club, and I am so excited to say I will be leaving the frosty cold of Northern Virginia behind in December to visit:
Front and center is the opening of the 26-suite, six-villa Pink Sands Club, Canouan, a US $120 million project, managed independently and part of The Leading Hotels of the World; opening on October 10, 2016.
The launch of Canouan Estate (formerly known as Canouan Resort), which sits adjacent and is a standalone luxury villa collection with access to hotel services of the Pink Sands Club, Canouan.
The upcoming 2017 renovation of Tamarind Beach Hotel, a boutique hotel located next to the village at Grand Bay.
In addition, the Canouan Jet Port runway has been expanded to 5,900 ft. to improve private jet access to the island.

“We are thrilled to finally reveal the magnificent Pink Sands Club, Canouan, which we are confident will set a new benchmark for a Caribbean archipelago already synonymous with ultra-exclusive hideaways,” said David Nuenemann, General Manager of the three properties, Pink Sands Club, Canouan, Canouan Estate, and Tamarind Beach Hotel. “The hotel showcases classic architecture, glamorous interiors and cutting–edge technology; as well as superb leisure and dining facilities unrivaled with any other Caribbean property.”

Set on the picturesque Godahl Beach, the Pink Sands Club, Canouan’s 26 suites and six villas offer striking ocean views and are decorated in the Club’s signature classic style with pink accents, cool marble, cream fabrics and dark woods. Each room boasts state-of-the-art technology including three touch-screen tablet devices that manage every aspect of the guest experience from setting optimum room temperatures to reviewing resort services. A television, discreetly embedded in a mirrored sliding door opposite the bed, moves aside at the touch of a button to reveal the turquoise lagoon beyond.

Other amenities include king beds fitted with luxurious Pratesi linens, walk-in closets, WiFi, complimentary refreshment bars, Nespresso coffee and tea makers, as well as en suite marble bathrooms with double vanities, separate rainfall shower and soaking tub. Each suite is also assigned a dedicated golf cart to navigate the expansive grounds and islands verdant rolling landscape.
The Spa offers both Caribbean-inspired and exclusive ESPA treatments from its nine hillside and two overwater palapas. The palapas remain unique in the Caribbean, only accessible by boat and offering captivating views of the fish-filled lagoon through their glass-bottom floors.
The stunning Jim Fazio-designed 18-hole championship golf course, set on dramatic sloping hills and along the ocean edge, will not disappoint. Both breathtaking in scenery and challenging in game, The Canouan Golf Club has been named one of Top 10 ‘Best Golf Courses in the world’ by Robb Report. With 150 undulating acres of dramatic vistas from every angle, it is truly every world-class golfer’s dream. Hole 16 features the longest par 3 in the world at 305 yards.
For the ultimate epicurean experience, the on-property selection of four restaurants is bountiful, and sure to whet appetites of all types.

Other leisure facilities offered throughout the estate include non-motorized water sports, a floodlit tennis center, an air-conditioned Technogym fitness center, and complimentary children and teens’ clubs for three to 18 year-olds. For guests who wish to explore the island, golf carts and bicycles are available, and guided hikes up the 787 ft. Mount Royal can be scheduled. Additionally, a flotilla of yachts, catamarans and powerboats offer trips to nearby islands, including the world-famous Tobago Cays, a World Heritage site.
