Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel

In addition to the newly opened The Watergate Hotel, as well as the groundbreaking on the Conrad Hotel brand's first D.C. property, the Kimpton Hotel group has opened not just one but two new hotels. Mason & Rook is located just off of Logan Circle, on the still hot 14th Street corridor, while the Glover Park hotel is located right across the street from the Russian Embassy off of Wisconsin Avenue.

Of the two properties, Mason and Rook is clearly the more carefully crafted and curated hotel, with a design sensibility to match the young professional nature of the explosive D.C. growth the past few years. Neutrals, in various shades of gray, anchor flourishes of color and the stunning wallpaper adds just enough nuances to bring a typically staid hotel room to life.

Since I am in the stages of moving into my new place in Virginia -- meaning I have been on a massive interior design binge -- being able to stay in a hotel room with a similar design aesthetic as I would like for my own personal home to have was ideal. In fact, I bought the wall art you see above.

More details about this hotel on my blog later, as well as on my t.v. segment on Tuesday. Be sure to tune into ABC to watch live if you live in the Washington, D.C. area.
