Young (33), talented and accomplished Tiffany MacIsaac, formerly of Neighborhood Restaurant Group (Buzz Bakery, Tallula, Eatbar, Vermilion, Evening Star Cafe, Columbia Firehouse and Rustico, etc.), has announced an opening date for her first-ever shop. In April, the sweetly named Buttercream Bakeshop will sit next to another heralded restaurant (All Purpose from the men behind Red Hen) at 1250 9th Street, NW in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC.

Acting as both owner and Executive chef, Buttercream Bakeshop is a culmination of a yearlong quest by MacIsaac to identify the perfect flagship location, which she has found in this adorable 12 seat space. Everything from cookies, pies, slices of signature cakes in delectable flavors such as Snickers-inspired layer cake and Beet Red Velvet cake, assorted macarons, canales, whole and by-the-slice pies, and oatmeal cream pies are just a few of treats MacIsaac plans on debuting at the bakery.

In addition to sweets, mornings at Buttercream Bakeshop will bring an array of breakfast favorites, such as warm biscuit sandwiches, sweet and savory scones, croissants, cream cheese-pecan sticky buns and seasonal quiches.

Since breakfast really isn’t complete without tasty coffee, Buttercream Bakeshop’s coffee has carefully partnered with their neighbors, the delightful Compass Coffee -- whose devotion to provide delicious coffee included opening during D.C.’s recent two feet of snow last weekend (love you guys! mean it!) -- for a satisfying cup-of-joe.

Additionally, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., MacIsaac plans on offering lunch options catered to the community of busy professionals and conventioneers in the surrounding areas; soft pretzel hot pockets, sandwiches on house baked bread, and a rotating selection of salads. Final menu TBD.
