With the stellar re-launch of The Grill Room at Capella D.C. by Michelin-starred Executive chef Frank Ruta, it was only natural for this elegant hotel to take their superb farm-to-table movement one step further with the opening of D.C.’s first farmer’s market in a hotel.
From August through September, on the second and fourth Saturday of the month, Capella’s Executive Chef Frank Ruta and Northern Neck Farm will offer fresh produce at the “Capella Farmer’s Market.”
Located at the entrance of the hotel on the cobblestoned steps of Georgetown, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm, anyone can purchase farm-fresh produce ranging from juicy strawberries to perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes and colorful purple carrots. Visitors can also enjoy warm pastries and hand-filled jars of honey, while experienced farmers will be available to share their farming tips, culinary advice and more.
Additionally, for those who are interested in tasting how Northern Neck Farm’s ingredients are baked into The Grill Room’s flavorful meals, locals/guests should order the newest item on The Grill Room’s menu: an excellent The Colonial Burger, made with seasonal heirloom tomatoes; Randall Lineback from Chapel Hill Farms in Berryville, Virginia; American cheese; mayonnaise and topped-off with bacon-onion confit, placed on a special house made colonial bun and accompanied with a summer potato salad.
