Padoca Bakery opens in NYC

Brazilian Marina Halpern (formerly of Gail’s in London as well as both The Dutch and The Mark in NYC) has laid claim to her own storefront with the opening of Padoca Bakery on the Upper East Side. Padoca Bakery’s accessible location and design creates a neighborly ambience while the menu mixes light and unique bites with unexpected twists.
Unlike most bakeries, the focus is not just on sweets although sugary confections such as the Black & White Brownie are a can’t miss treat. Savory products convenient for snacking include the Savory Empadinha (yes, it is spelled that way at this bakery), with chicken, mushroom, hearts of palm, spinach and feta, while the real health conscious can feel comfortable with nutritious salads, sandwiches and soups.
