Review of Fairmont D.C.

The pedestrian-friendly Fairmont D.C. has maintained its Grand Dame status in Washington, D.C. Yet the convenience of the Fairmont to bustling Georgetown hardly is reason enough to stay. The enchanting courtyard and carefully curated indoor/outdoor feel provides a tranquil oasis from the pulsating demands of D.C. with comfortable accomodations and the best pizza and martini in Washington, D.C.
Be sure to experience “Fairmont Gold,” the newest feature of this luxury hotel brand. With its separate floor for check-in/check-out, complimentary breakfast // happy hour // dessert hour, and movie space with a slew of selections with any reference to Washington, D.C., this slice of hospitality is worth the elevated price point.

Honestly, if I had to chose between the Fairmont Gold experience and spending a $100 at the Juniper Restaurant, Fairmont’s steely charming foodie surprise, I would chose the Juniper. Delicious Honey Walnut Bread with warm butter, black salt and honey would make the most ardent carb-free lifestyle sweat bullets. Juniper also boasts the cutest Lobster Roll presentation south of Boston. Full-bodied chunks of lobster are carefully seasoned and garnished with a side of the best portobello fries I have ever had. Salty, thick, juicy and tremendously flavorful, the fries enraptured me with their charm while the adorable side of fizzy blood orange soda eagerly sweetened this salty dish.

Of course the best thing I had at the Fairmont was their pizza as I relaxed into the cushy king-sized bed. Deep and cheesy to the point of delirious intoxication, the Fairmont kitchen consistently -- and surprisingly -- delivers.
For the less foodie inclined, the Fairmont D.C. does partner with Balance Gym to provide athletic enjoyments, including a lap pool, while the bar in the Fairmont courtyard tempts with their Bee-tini, a sweetly aromatic cocktail full of life. Thankfully, I was able to do both and I feel all-the-better for discovering this quaint hotel as well as the unexpectedly delicious Juniper Restaurant. Definitely one of the best hotels in Washington, D.C.
