It's been four years since I have stayed at The Hay Adams, and at least two years since I have gone to either dine or drink there, but after this Sunday's epic Champagne Brunch and peaceful stay, I can unquestionably say I will be back repeatedly -- particularly for their Sunday Champagne Brunch.

For those not in the know, The Hay Adams is the iconic D.C. hotel directly across the street from Lafayette Park, aka the park in front of The White House where everyone protests. Brides have made the top-floor reception venue sold-out for the next two years due to this view, and those with discriminating tastes stay at the hotel for their superbly plush beds and proximate locations. And, of course, The Hay Adams downstairs bar Off The Record is famous for their coasters, with Pulitzer Prize winning caricatures and fabulous Pear Martinis. But what I had never experienced until yesterday is the exquisite Champagne Brunch at The Hay Adams.

For $95, on Sunday's from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, guest can have unlimited Tattinger Champagne (in addition to a wide selection of teas + coffees + other brunch cocktails), an enormously fresh buffet with juicy seafood, a large selection of desserts (including a well-made cheesecake), plus an individual main course. I was shocked at the quality of all the food and inquisitively asked if The Hay Adams had gotten a new chef. "Yes, we did!," the staff proudly proclaimed. I am still tracking down his name but let me tell you the food at The Hay Adams has DRAMATICALLY improved, and you can tell it in the savory quality, visual presentation as well as selection of fresh ingredients.

If you only go to one brunch in D.C., then don't waste your precious calories at some of these other "bottomless brunches" with cheap champagne and even cheaper orange juice. The Champagne Brunch is worth every penny and should be on every person's list! Plus how can you beat the view and service! Thank you to my D.C. friend for introducing me to it, as well as treating me! I am so spoiled ... and love it!
