Le Relais de Chambord Opens - The first hotel to open in France’s Loire Valley since 2014
For the first time since 2014, the Loire Valley has a new hotel. A sublime entry -- and part of the exquisite hotels in the Small Luxury Hotels of America Collection -- Le Relais de Chambord recently opened on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Domaine de Chambord.
Originally built as a hunting lodge for King Francis I, designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte has been entrusted to restore and refurbish this 19th century building into a 55-room hotel. Right next door to one of France’s most romantic châteaux, deep in the Loire Valley, the opening is a joint project between the French government and entrepreneur Frederic Jousset. It will breathe new life into an existing relais, set in an unbeatable UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Domaine de Chambord and offer a rare opportunity to stay within these historic grounds.
